Your company today, the work you want next
Identify strengths, bottlenecks, growth priorities, and what needs attention before pursuing the next level of opportunity.
Contractor Capacity Lab™
Most contractors did not start a company to create another job for themselves. They wanted to build a business that could grow and give them more control over their time. Contractor Capacity Lab helps established construction and trade contractors strengthen how their company operates and prepare for better opportunities.

More work should give you more room to lead
Commercial and public-sector opportunities can help a company grow. But larger work can create more stress when the business does not have the systems, financial practices, team structure, and project controls needed to manage it well. The Capacity Lab strengthens the company behind the work while helping you find, evaluate, price, pursue, and manage stronger opportunities.
What you will work on
Identify strengths, bottlenecks, growth priorities, and what needs attention before pursuing the next level of opportunity.
Strengthen team structure, delegation, communication, workflow, accountability, and the systems that keep the owner from carrying every problem alone.
Work through profit and loss statements, job costing, cash flow, overhead, and the difference between a busy company and a profitable one.
Understand opportunities, general-contractor expectations, insurance, bonding, safety requirements, registrations, and relevant certifications.
Learn how to review solicitations, scopes, plans, specifications, and bid documents before deciding whether an opportunity is right for your company.
Work with a commercial estimating professional on labor, materials, overhead, scope gaps, contingencies, and the information needed to price work responsibly.
Build stronger practices around contracts, project management, documentation, change orders, communication, and payment.
Strengthen past performance, references, capability statements, general-contractor relationships, networking, and follow-up.
Organize your business information, identify gaps, and prepare the documents general contractors are likely to request.
Bring the work together into a practical next-stage strategy, with clear priorities, opportunities, and relationships to continue building.
How the cohort works
Who it is for
The Capacity Lab is designed for construction and trade contractors that have operated for at least two to three years and have some subcontracting or commercial experience.
It is for owners with active projects, employees, and a reputation for quality work who are ready to spend focused time on the business behind the job, not only the job in front of them.
Leave with work you can use.
